The FOMS explained the procedure for receiving injections

The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (FOMS) receives numerous inquiries on the hotline 113, particularly from citizens who are puzzled as to why they cannot receive intravenous or intramuscular injections in the evening at any medical organization, including emergency services.

In this regard, FOMS provides clarifications on the provision of planned medical care.

As representatives of the fund explained, emergency medical assistance is intended only for urgent and emergency cases. Emergency crews cannot perform the functions of a procedural room and administer injections based on the family doctor's prescriptions if the patient's condition does not require immediate assistance.

Hospitals provide medical care exclusively to hospitalized patients. The emergency departments of these institutions are intended for those who need urgent or planned hospitalization. On-duty doctors and nurses cannot administer injections to citizens who are not being treated at that hospital.

Thus, the actions of emergency services and medical institutions in such situations fully comply with the legislation.

At the same time, FOMS reminds that Day Hospitals operate in Family Medicine Centers (FMC), where citizens can receive necessary medical procedures, such as drips and injections.

It is important to consider the procedure for obtaining these services:

Citizens need to be registered with the FMC and undergo a consultation with a family doctor, who, if there are medical indications, will prescribe the appropriate treatment, including injections, and issue a referral to the day hospital of that Center.

Insured citizens can take advantage of services at a 50% discount. For those without a mandatory health insurance policy, the cost of services is 100%, and payment is made through the clinic's cash desk.

It is important to note that the day hospital does not provide medications, syringes, or infusion systems.

FOMS urges citizens to understand the established rules of operation of medical institutions and to plan the receipt of medical procedures in advance through their doctor.

For any questions regarding the procedure for receiving medical services under the State Guarantees Program, you can contact the FOMS hotline at 113. The call is free.
