The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced current information regarding the spread of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza in Bishkek. The agency continues to closely monitor the epidemiological situation amid the seasonal increase in morbidity.
According to recent data, some medical institutions are observing a decrease in the number of visits and hospitalizations compared to previous days. This allows for more efficient distribution of the workload and ensures the availability of medical services. It is important to note that such fluctuations in visits are a common occurrence for this season, and final conclusions will be drawn based on the analysis of weekly data.
The Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital has also recorded a decrease in the number of visits and hospitalizations since the beginning of the week. However, the bed capacity remains high: currently, 500 beds are in use, while the actual number of patients ranges from 565 to 573. The number of severe cases has decreased, and there are currently 6 patients in intensive care, down from 10 previously. Patient flows with ARVI and pneumonia continue to be serviced in an enhanced mode.
The Children's City Clinical Emergency Hospital operates around the clock, receiving children with seasonal respiratory illnesses. In the repurposed departments, 421 beds have been set up, of which 378 are occupied. There is a slight decrease in visits and hospitalizations; however, the general somatics, ENT, and surgery/pulmonology departments remain the most loaded. The main flow of patients comes from primary health care institutions in Bishkek and the Chui region.
The Ministry of Health recommends the following:
- consult a family doctor at the first signs of ARVI;
- in case of high fever, shortness of breath, or significant weakness in children, as well as refusal to drink, seek medical help immediately;
- observe preventive measures: wear masks in crowded places, wash hands regularly, and limit contacts if symptoms are present;
- get vaccinated against influenza, as this remains the most effective protective measure during the season.
The situation with the epidemic in Bishkek is under constant control of the Ministry of Health. All medical institutions are operating in a state of heightened readiness, and the public will be regularly informed of new data.
