The number of cases of ARVI in Bishkek continues to rise, as reported by the chief physician of the infectious diseases hospital, Gulzhigit Aaliev, at a press conference.

According to him, over the last 24 hours, 421 people have sought medical attention at the hospital, of which 163 were hospitalized. More than 90% of them are children.

Aaliev noted that medical staff do not send patients home due to a lack of space in the facility. “Every year we increase the number of hospital beds. However, there is currently a significant queue at the hospital. Parents and other relatives bring children, and if 10-15 children arrive at the same time, there are more than 30 accompanying them, which causes the corridors to be overcrowded. We prioritize those who have a high fever, chills, or difficulty breathing. Many come for consultation, even if they could go to their local clinic,” he explained.

The chief physician also added that nine children are currently in intensive care.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health reported the necessity of visiting family medicine centers (FMC) at the first signs of illness, such as high fever, cough, and sore throat, to avoid increased waiting times in queues and the risk of contracting other viruses, which can worsen the condition, especially in children.
