Hong Kong Flu and COVID-19. What Viruses Are Circulating in Kyrgyzstan

From November 17 to 23, Kyrgyzstan registered 13,054 cases of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza, which is 60% higher than the figures from the previous week. This data was provided by the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, as reported by 24.kg.

Among the infected, 69.4% are children under 14 years old, accounting for 9,055 cases. Hospitalization affected 7.2% of the total number of infected.

Laboratory studies show that the main virus circulating in the country is influenza A/H3N2, also known as Hong Kong flu; its share is 91.3%. Influenza B was found in 3.8% of cases, while COVID-19 was detected in 4.8% of cases.

Additionally, there is a presence of other acute respiratory viral infections, including rhinovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza.
