Nevertheless, in recent years, the number of domestic startups and innovative companies has increased, seeking more creative solutions to the pollution problem than just reducing emissions.

One such company is Airee Felt LLC.

Since its founding in September 2021, this startup has patented three air purification products based on sheep wool, offering effective solutions for improving indoor air quality.

With the support of the investment fund "ReCycle," created in collaboration with Rio Tinto and Investcor NBFI, Airee Felt LLC successfully introduced an air purifier to the domestic market that is fully biodegradable and equipped with a filter made of sheep wool.

These air purifiers effectively remove carcinogenic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and filter 99% of PM2.5 particles.

While traditional HEPA filters made from synthetic materials can filter out 99.97% of particles, they degrade in the environment for over 30 years. In contrast, the sheep wool filters developed by the company are 100% natural, completely decompose within a few months, and are safe for the ecosystem.

Airee Felt LLC produces felt made from sheep wool and polymer cotton. First, the fibers are spun and mixed in a ratio of 80:20, followed by carding, combing, and felting processes using automated lines, and then hot rolling at temperatures of 170–190 degrees Celsius depending on the thickness of the product. The finished product is packaged and stored in a warehouse.

The company's production capacity for sheep wool filters is 20 tons of finished products per year.

As part of its social responsibility, Airee Felt LLC donates its air purifiers to kindergartens and collaborates with various organizations to conduct educational programs about the impact of air pollution on health and ways to prevent it, as well as installing its devices in children's institutions.

The company also actively participates in various competitions and programs, both internationally and locally. For example, it was among the top three startups in Asia and made it to the top ten startups in the "Start.Up! Germany Tour 2024," organized by the Federal Republic of Germany.

This winter, the company will introduce a new model — Airee 3.0, which has a 33% larger capacity compared to the previous version and is decorated with the "Өлзи" pattern. As part of the "Авдар дүүрэн цэвэр агаар" ("Chest Full of Clean Air") initiative, they plan to expand exports to Southeast Asian and American markets.

Sheep wool filters do not release microplastics, unlike synthetic alternatives, and are fully biodegradable. Additionally, Mongolian sheep wool is considered an eco-friendly material with low greenhouse gas emissions, making it an attractive export product for sustainable development. In this regard, the company is negotiating the supply of its filters to Germany and Turkey.

The air purifier offered on the market is a device designed to improve air quality and create a comfortable atmosphere indoors.
