Sergey Brin, billionaire and one of the founders of Google, made a significant donation by transferring over $1.1 billion in Alphabet shares to his nonprofit organization Catalyst4. This information was confirmed by a representative of the Brin family and published by Bloomberg. According to documents, Catalyst4 received more than 3.5 million shares of Alphabet.

Founded in 2023, Catalyst4 aims to fund research into treatments for central nervous system diseases, including Parkinson's disease, and also addresses climate change issues.

It is known that a significant portion of the funds was directed towards the needs of this organization.

Additionally, a representative from Brin's office reported that he also allocated about $90 million to his family foundation and $45 million to actor Michael J. Fox's foundation, which actively supports research on Parkinson's disease. Fox, known to audiences for his role as Marty McFly in the "Back to the Future" trilogy, suffers from this disease himself.

According to Bloomberg, Brin ranks fourth on the list of the world's wealthiest people with a net worth of $255.5 billion, while Forbes estimates his assets at $243.1 billion, placing him in fifth position.

Bloomberg reports that this year Brin's wealth has significantly increased due to the rise in Alphabet's stock, which reached a peak value of $323 per share on November 25. The company's successes in artificial intelligence contributed to this growth. Currently, Brin owns about 6% of Alphabet's shares, and since the beginning of the year, his net worth has increased by $97.3 billion.

Bloomberg also reminds that in May, Brin made similar donations, distributing $700 million worth of Alphabet shares to the same three charitable organizations.
