A fire at the Le Constellation bar, located in Crans-Montana, claimed the lives of at least 40 people and injured around 100. It is reported that the cause of the blaze was a sparkler that a woman was holding on her shoulders while in the crowd. This resulted in a flash where all flammable materials ignited almost simultaneously, leading to a series of explosions. This was reported by the New York Post.

The Le Constellation bar was a popular spot for foreign tourists and could accommodate up to 300 people. After the fire broke out, many patrons rushed towards a narrow staircase leading from the basement, which caused panic and a stampede.

One witness to the incident told the BFMTV channel that "the explosion occurred due to fireworks hidden in a bottle of champagne, which ignited the ceiling." The fire quickly engulfed the premises, and soon it became impossible to breathe.

Rescuers noted that among the victims were many foreigners, including teenagers among the injured. Additionally, there had been previous concerns about the single exit from the basement bar.

Interestingly, a promotional video for the nightclub released a year earlier featured staff carrying bottles of champagne with sparklers through a crowded hall.
