The flames engulfed several buildings of the "Wang Fook Court" residential complex, located in the Tai Po district. The fire started from bamboo scaffolding and netting that were used for renovation.
Initial reports indicated a fire in four sections of the complex; however, the flames soon spread to all eight sections. Consequently, authorities assigned the incident a fifth level of danger, which is the highest.
At this time, the fire has not been contained. Due to the threat of the fire spreading, the police decided to evacuate residents from two neighboring blocks.
