The causes of the incident are still unknown; however, according to Reuters, it is believed that faulty electrical equipment, possibly a microwave oven, may have caused the fire.

Fire service and UN security personnel quickly responded to the situation, and the fire was extinguished in just six minutes. Everyone present was evacuated to a safe location. As a result of the incident, thirteen people received medical assistance on-site due to smoke inhalation, the UN reports.

It is worth noting that annual UN conferences discuss issues related to combating climate change, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting the most vulnerable countries.
