According to Cyprus Inform, in Greece, due to serious malfunctions in the radio frequency system, there are massive delays and cancellations of flights.
The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued an emergency directive for all flights concerning the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR).
The technical malfunction has reduced the system's capacity, leading to significant disruptions, resulting in departures from Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport in Athens and other regional airports being suspended. The cause of the failure is related to the central radio frequency systems located in regional control centers in Athens and Macedonia.
Arriving aircraft are being redirected to airports outside Greek airspace, as the problem persists.
Significant disruptions to flight schedules are also being reported at airports in Cyprus.
