Analysis of Lists: The Average Age of Candidates for the Jogorku Kenesh is 47 Years
The largest group among the candidates consists of individuals born in the 1970s, who make up almost half of the entire list. Candidates born in the 1980s also occupy a significant number of places. Meanwhile, the number of candidates born in the 1950s and 1960s is much smaller, and representatives from the 1990s can be found only in rare cases. Candidates born in the 2000s are extremely rare.
The age range of the election participants is quite diverse: the oldest candidate is 73 years old, while the youngest is only 25 years old.
In most electoral districts, the age structure of candidates is similar, primarily consisting of people aged 40 to 55. Among them, one can find current deputies, employees of government institutions, businessmen, as well as representatives of educational institutions and local authorities.
Experts emphasize that the predominance of candidates over 40 years old is observed in all elections in recent years. This is related to the necessity of having professional experience, career preparation, and resources needed for active participation in the election campaign.
According to the data from the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums, 467 candidates are registered to vote: 276 men and 191 women. Initially, 589 individuals expressed their desire to participate in the elections; however, more than 100 of them dropped out of the race during the registration stage or afterward, some by the decision of the CEC and others by their own choice.
It is important to note that at 8:00 AM, the campaigning period ended, and the "day of silence" began before the early elections for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, which will take place on November 30.
