During today's broadcast on Birinchi Radio, member of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Uzarbek Zylkibaev announced that two more candidates have decided not to participate in the upcoming elections for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Zylkibaev noted that a total of 589 citizens submitted applications to participate in the elections. Of these, 467 were registered as candidates, while 122 nominees were denied for various reasons. Some of them voluntarily withdrew, exercising their right, while others were denied due to non-compliance with electoral legislation requirements, such as lack of residence in the country, having a criminal record, or being on the operational register of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"The CEC actively cooperated with the Ministry of Education, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant institutions to verify the candidates' documents and their compliance with election laws," he added.
According to Zylkibaev, among the registered candidates, 276 are men and 191 are women. "Today, two candidates also submitted statements of withdrawal from participation in the elections for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh," he concluded.
