The Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of Kyrgyzstan has put forward for public discussion a draft resolution to create a commemorative date for workers in the field of information technology.
According to the justification note, the purpose of the document is to recognize the significant contribution of IT specialists to the development of digital infrastructure and technologies in the country. The ministry emphasizes the need to create a unified approach to designating a significant date for this professional community, which will also help raise the status and public recognition of those involved in the development and implementation of information systems.
The implementation of this resolution is expected to contribute to strengthening the human resources potential in the field of information technology and the development of the professional community. It will also assist in forming a consistent state policy in the area of digitalization and the introduction of modern technologies.
The draft notes that in recent years, Kyrgyzstan has been actively forming the regulatory and technological framework for digital development. Key events on this path include the adoption of the Law on "Informatization and Electronic Governance" in 1999, the establishment of the Center for Electronic Governance in 2015, the creation of the State Committee for Information Technologies and Communications in 2016, and the launch of the inter-agency electronic interaction system "Tündük" in 2018, which received international recognition.
Another significant event is the entry into force of the Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, scheduled for February 5, 2026, which will become the world's first codified document regulating digital public relations.
When choosing a date for the Day of IT Workers, international professional holidays such as Programmer's Day and World Internet Day were taken into account. As a result, it was proposed to establish the holiday on April 4, which in several countries is associated with the development of digital technologies and the network environment.
According to the developers, the choice of this date emphasizes the connection between national digitalization processes and global technological trends and offers a universal approach to establishing a professional commemorative date.
