The Sorceress Salтанат Тынарбек кызы
We decided to talk to the real enchantress Saltanat Tynarbek kyzy, who creates incredibly beautiful pieces. They are so exquisite that they seem simply magical. Today, the master will tell us about her creativity and share the secrets of jewelry fashion.
- Currently, a huge number of artisans are engaged in handmade products, but your creations are simply magical. What do you think attracts Kyrgyz beauties to them and makes them different from others?
- Thank you, I am very pleased to hear such words addressed to me. My products are distinguished by the fact that every woman can afford them, as the prices are very accessible. Moreover, they are versatile and can be combined with both casual and evening wear. Another highlight of my work is the exclusivity of each piece. That is, each of my decorations exists only in a single copy, and even if someone asks to repeat this work, it will not be possible to create an exact duplicate.
- Mostly, what we see at various fairs are simpler works. Tell me, why are your pieces so voluminous, sometimes even massive, in a good sense of the word? They are very complex in terms of execution…
- In fact, I have many types of jewelry in my assortment, both massive and light, airy pieces. However, since massive items have been in fashion from 2013 to 2016, many women want to wear such pieces, which is why I have more of them. As for the complexity of execution, this is handmade work; I want to justify the trust placed in me, not to take the easy way out. Moreover, the more complex the technique of execution, the more beautiful the decoration turns out.
- Despite the fact that your works are incredibly modern and elegant, they still carry a hint of national style. How do you manage to combine modernity and traditions?
- First of all, I really like jewelry in an ethnic style. The combination of any national patterns with modern techniques creates a different, special style. I am often asked to make something in an ethnic style, and I think this is very relevant now.
- How much time does it take to create one piece?
- It depends on the complexity of the work. For example, airy weaving takes about two days, while bead embroidery takes even longer. There are also works that can be completed in a couple of hours.
- Were there any artists or craftsmen in your family? Perhaps this gift was passed down to you by inheritance? Do you have an artistic education, or who passed this skill on to you?
- I think my love for creativity was passed down to me from my mother. However, she does not make any jewelry; her hobby is sewing. Like me, she is a designer of her works. Mostly, she creates various types of curtains and sometimes clothing.
- How did your creativity begin, and where do you draw inspiration when creating such masterpieces?
- Unfortunately, I do not have an artistic education; it all started as a hobby for me and later grew into my main business. It all began when I saw an incredibly beautiful necklace on the neck of an actress. Later, I learned that it was handmade. I thought, why not make something like that for myself with my own hands? It turned out that it is not as easy as it seemed at first. To make one necklace requires patience and meticulous work. I draw inspiration from nature, most often from the materials I see in stores and online. I am also inspired by beautiful people who later order these pieces.
- Do any stars of the domestic pop scene wear your jewelry?
- Yes, some of our stars have already purchased necklaces from me. For example, my favorite host Aigul Kurmanova, pop singer Asel Turdalieva, and others. Honestly, I did not expect to achieve such success in such a short time, and that my works would become popular among famous people.
- As a professional, do you think there are different types of jewelry that should be worn in summer and winter?
- I do not think there is any specific difference between jewelry to categorize them as summer or winter. The only thing to pay attention to is color, because bright colors are usually associated with summer, while darker, cooler colors are associated with winter.
- What jewelry is currently in fashion, and what do Kyrgyz people most often request?
- Tastes vary, and everyone chooses what they like. As I mentioned earlier, massive jewelry, such as "braids," necklaces, and bead-embroidered pieces are the most appealing to my fans. In my opinion, any look can be skillfully presented and enhanced with accessories. Properly chosen jewelry can transform even the most insignificant outfit beyond recognition. Therefore, of course, it is possible and necessary to experiment with jewelry and learn how to combine them with clothing.
- Could you give a couple of tips on what clothing to wear with your jewelry, what looks best and with what? Surely your clients have already asked you what to wear for the New Year?
- Based on my jewelry, I can say that "air" pieces look very good on a bare neck with an evening dress. And "braids," despite their versatility, look best with a shirt and a dress. My clients send me photos of their outfits for which they would like to purchase jewelry, and I really help them choose jewelry that matches their outfits and advise them on what to wear with what.
- What materials do you use in the creation of your works?
- Natural and artificial stones, a lot of different fittings, Czech and Japanese beads ordered from Kazakhstan, as we do not have such materials. I also use threads, leather materials, silver and melchior chains.
- Do you consider yourself a popular master in Kyrgyzstan?
- I consider myself a beginner master and have not yet reached popularity throughout the country. But I strive and aim for new successes. I am glad that I already have my regular fans of my creativity and I try not to disappoint them.
The New Year corporate parties and holidays are ahead, so before putting on jewelry, think about whether it will match your outfit. Perhaps you still have time to find something exclusive from our artisans, as dozens of craftsmen work in this field.
