The veterinary clinic of Osh State University celebrated its first anniversary. Over the past year, assistance has been provided to more than 400 animals, and over 100 surgeries, both complex and simple, have been performed.

According to information from the university's press service, one of the residents of Osh, Alisha Korella, visited the clinic with her dog named Laila, who was experiencing bleeding from the bladder and a sharp deterioration in condition. Alisha cares for several dogs and cats, giving them a lot of attention.

Laila, according to her owner, is an active and playful dog. However, when she was brought to the clinic, she was severely weakened, unable to move or even lift her head. After treatment, the dog's condition significantly improved. "I often visit this clinic because the conditions are excellent and the specialists are highly qualified. In the southern region, such a clinic exists only at Osh State University. When I brought Laila, she was in serious condition, and now, thanks to the doctors, she is back on her feet. I am sincerely grateful to the clinic team for their professionalism," shares Alisha Korella.

The clinic was able to acquire modern equipment and open a grooming salon for pets thanks to nearly half a million soms deposited into its account. The salon employs two students who receive a salary. One of them, Aruuke Kamaldinova, says: "We came here to learn and gain experience. We strive to acquire knowledge while being able to work and earn."

The clinic offers a wide range of veterinary services, including ultrasound diagnostics, X-rays, surgical operations, and laboratory studies. It serves not only the residents of Osh but also those from Batken and Jalal-Abad regions, as it is the only fully equipped veterinary center in southern Kyrgyzstan.

"Every day we receive between two to ten patients with various ailments: from colds to infectious and surgical pathologies requiring urgent intervention. We also conduct vaccinations. With the funds received last year, we purchased endoscopic equipment for diagnosing ear and nose diseases in animals. This equipment significantly facilitates our work. We have enough medications, and we plan to open a veterinary pharmacy in the near future," said Bakyt Kadyrov, the head of the Osh State University veterinary clinic.

Clinic specialists receive numerous calls daily and provide consultations online. For example, doctor Adilet Asilbek uulu traveled to the village of Kashkar-Kyshtak to assist a local resident with an Arahshan breed sheep suffering from cenuriosis (helminthiasis).

Adilet Asilbek uulu is an experienced surgeon specializing in brain surgeries for animals. In this case, the surgery was postponed for a week as tests showed that the brain was not ready for intervention. "This disease is called cenuriosis, in Kyrgyz it is 'ailanbash.' Sheep with this diagnosis require surgery, and the disease is transmitted from dogs and cats. Every day, 4-5 people come to us with this problem," he explains.

Additionally, scientific research is actively conducted at the veterinary center. Professor Abdygany Abdrasulov from Osh State University received a patent for his research results on Aala-Tuu breed sheep, which are of the meat and fat direction.

According to Professor Abdygany Abdrasulov, Aala-Tuu sheep do not require special feed and gain weight well both in pastures and in the mountains. "Farmers raising this breed have between 200 to 1000 heads. Arahshan sheep, as a rule, are not kept in numbers exceeding 100. Although Arahshans are more well-fed, they require special care in stall conditions. In contrast, Aala-Tuu sheep can graze even in winter in the mountains," noted the professor.

Currently, 274 students are studying at the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology at Osh State University, who, in addition to their studies, gain practical experience at the clinic. In the future, the department plans to create conditions for training highly qualified specialists for the country.
