In an interview with the Kabar agency, he noted that certain problems arise during construction; however, this is quite normal due to the complexity of the process. The mayor emphasized that it is unreasonable to draw conclusions about the safety of the project before its completion. He cited the discussions surrounding the "Altai" neighborhood as an example.
“Although there are indeed many questions regarding the 'Altai' neighborhood, the work has just begun. One cannot label the project as unsafe when the main work has not yet started. Specialists have already conducted the necessary surveys and calculations for the area,” the mayor stated.
The journalist added that the concerns about the safety of construction in this area are voiced not by ordinary citizens, but by the director of the Institute of Seismology.
“The President of the Academy of Sciences indicated that the project was not approved by the Institute of Seismology, so its experts cannot assess the situation. However, I want to emphasize that approval from the institute is not required under the norms for approving construction projects. There are organizations operating under the Ministry of Construction that evaluate the feasibility of construction on specific sites. It is known that there is a high level of groundwater, and the project includes solutions for this problem. A new Osh market and a new Western bus station are also being built near the 'Altai' neighborhood, where similar issues are being addressed with drainage systems. The developers of 'Altai' have such technologies in place,” the mayor emphasized.
In conclusion, the mayor added that officials do not have the right to force citizens to sign contracts with specific companies. Each citizen should make their own decision after familiarizing themselves with all aspects and the history of the project.
