In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, suspects have been detained in a major theft case. According to information provided by the Bishkek City Police Department, the incident occurred on January 8.

A resident of Bishkek reported to the Lenin District Police Department that during a ride on minibus No. 161, which was traveling along Nekrasov Street at the intersection with Leo Tolstoy Street, her wallet was stolen. The thieves took 595,000 soms, $400, and jewelry worth about 100,000 soms.

As a result of the incident, a criminal case was initiated under the article "Theft" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Bishkek City Police detained two men, born in 1985, at the "Sary-Özön" market during operational activities. The suspects turned out to be Sh. M. and Zh. A., who had previously been convicted of serious crimes. They were placed in a temporary detention facility following a decision by the Lenin District Court regarding the measure of restraint.

During a search of their Daewoo Nexia vehicle, jewelry stolen from the victim was found and seized.

Law enforcement agencies discovered that on the day of the theft, the suspects intentionally boarded a minibus heading to the "Dordoy" market, choosing their victim based on her appearance.

According to representatives of the Bishkek City Police, "Experienced pickpockets, having conducted visual surveillance, determined that the woman was likely working at the market, after which they committed the theft. They then returned to their vehicle by taxi, a 'Mercedes Transit,' paying the fare of 1,000 soms with the stolen money."

The investigation is ongoing.
