
The editorial office requested comments from representatives of law enforcement agencies. The press service of the Interior Ministry of the Issyk-Kul region reported that on January 6, 2026, a report of theft committed by unknown individuals at the church in the village of Ak-Suu was received by the police department of the Ak-Suu district. This information was registered in the log, and a preliminary investigation was initiated.
The investigative and operational group promptly arrived at the scene. Upon inspection, it was found that the entrance door of the church had been broken open. It was also established that the Christmas tree inside the temple had been set on fire using flammable liquids intended for lighting candles. Additionally, the perpetrators damaged two donation boxes, from which money was stolen.
From the church shop, 10 Christmas gift sets, two silver chains, 5–6 rings, and 12–15 crosses were missing. A Wi-Fi router and other items were also stolen.
During further investigations, it was discovered that the same individuals had also committed theft at the mosque in the village of Ak-Suu, where donation boxes were broken into. Furthermore, instances of damage to the windows of two cars and the theft of small items from them were recorded. All facts have been registered in the Unified Register of the Ak-Suu district police department.
In connection with this incident, a criminal case has been initiated under paragraph 4 of part 3 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ak-Suu District Police, using surveillance cameras installed as part of the "Safe and Digital Country" project, conducted operational search activities, as a result of which the suspects were detained with the stolen items.
The detainees turned out to be two residents of the Ak-Suu district:
N. A., born in 2010;
V. A., born in 2003, who had a previous conviction.
In accordance with articles 96–97 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the suspects have been placed in a temporary detention facility. The investigation is ongoing.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that messages about the robbery continue to spread on social networks, failing to clarify that the suspects have already been detained. In this regard, law enforcement agencies urged leaders of diasporas and local communities to share accurate and verified information about the incident, including details about the detention of the suspects.
