The incident occurred on January 5, 2026, around 11:00 PM, when employees of the tourist-ecological police, together with representatives of the territorial fishery management, were conducting a night patrol of the lake's waters.
As a result of the operation, a resident of the village of Balbai in the Tyup district, born in 1978, named A. T., was detained. He was using Chinese synthetic nets to catch fish at the mouth of the village. During the inspection, 6 synthetic nets and illegally caught fish were seized from him: 23 sigs, 5 breams, and 1 crucian carp.
The event has been registered in the electronic journal of the Internal Affairs Department of the Tyup district, and additional verification activities are currently underway. Information has also been sent to the Municipal Internal Affairs Department of the city of Balykchy, where investigative actions have begun and are ongoing.
