According to the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region, the incident took place on the night of December 13 to 14, 2025, around midnight. A resident of Balykchy, I.A., while in an intoxicated state at his home, got into a conflict with his brother I.N., who also arrived in a state of alcohol intoxication. The quarrel arose due to a misunderstanding between them.
During the conflict, I.A. grabbed a kitchen knife that was on the table and stabbed his older brother I.N. in the abdomen. Due to the injury, I.N. lost consciousness and was urgently taken to the intensive care unit of the Balykchy hospital, where he underwent surgery.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime provided for in paragraph 1 of part 2 of article 130 ("Causing serious harm to health") of the Criminal Code. Relevant forensic medical examinations have been appointed.
The suspect, I.A., a resident of Balykchy born in 1986, was detained and interrogated as part of the criminal case.
The Balykchy court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for two months, after which he was placed in a pre-trial detention center. Investigative actions are ongoing.
