Cattle worth hundreds of thousands of soms stolen at Issyk-Kul — suspect detained

In Karakol, local police detained a person suspected of livestock theft.

On December 11, the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region reported that on November 16, 2025, a citizen born in 1979 approached them with a statement that two cows had disappeared from his barn. According to him, the theft occurred at night, and the damage amounted to 240,000 soms.

On the same day, another resident of Karakol reported the theft of two young bulls. He claimed that around 07:30, unknown individuals took the animals that were standing in the yard of his house, causing damage of 160,000 soms.

Both incidents were registered at the Internal Affairs Department of Karakol, after which a criminal case was initiated under Article 205-1 Part 3 Clause 4 ("Theft of Livestock") of the Criminal Code.

As a result of operational activities, employees of the Karakol City Police Department found the stolen livestock on November 17 in the territory of the village of Svetlaya Polyana, located in the Jeti-Oguz district.

Furthermore, on December 8, a suspect was detained in the Sokuluk district of the Chui region. He turned out to be 27-year-old A.R., who had previously been held criminally liable.

According to the Internal Affairs Department, during the interrogation, the detainee confessed to his guilt. The court in Karakol decided on preventive measures in the form of arrest for a period of two months. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
