In Bishkek, a screening of the animated film "Beyond," created by a Franco-Czech-German team under the direction of director Florence Miailhe, took place. This event was timed to the 63rd anniversary of the signing of the Élysée Treaty and the 7th anniversary of the Aachen Treaty, which laid the foundation for reconciliation and strengthening ties between France and Germany.
Before the film began, diplomats took the floor. The Deputy Ambassador of Germany, Konstantin Selenti, noted that the Élysée Treaty, signed on January 22, 1963, was an important step in overcoming the long-standing hostility between the two countries. In 2019, the Aachen Treaty renewed these relations, focusing on cultural projects and international cooperation.
The cultural attaché of the French embassy, Étienne Lancel, emphasized that culture plays a key role in discussing complex historical issues between the two nations with respect and openness. He added that joint projects in the fields of art, music, cinema, and education have been implemented in Kyrgyzstan for several years.
The audience eagerly awaited the screening of the film "Beyond," which tells the story of the adventures of two children, Kiona and Adrien. After the destruction of their village, they set out on a journey with their family, but soon find themselves alone and continue their journey without support. Along the way, they encounter both dangers and random acts of kindness and indifference. This challenging journey becomes a coming-of-age experience for them, during which they learn to make important decisions that affect their future.
The film is created using the technique of painting on glass, which gives the frames a softness and emotional richness. This visual style emphasizes the depth of the story without distracting from the dialogues and events that define the plot's development.
The film screening took place at the Chingiz Aitmatov Cinema House, with the film shown in German and Russian subtitles.
