The agency provided a comment regarding the situation with the Nipah virus
The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan assures that the healthcare system is ready for a quick response to potential epidemiological threats. This statement was made in response to the emerging situation with the Nipah virus in the country.
An outbreak of this dangerous virus has been recorded in India, where it has led to human casualties and the implementation of quarantine measures.
"To prevent possible spread of the infection, we have strengthened sanitary and quarantine control at the border. Sanitary and quarantine workers are monitoring the health status of individuals arriving in the country, conducting sanitary inspections of vehicles, and implementing preventive measures in accordance with established norms," the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The agency also emphasized that they maintain constant contact with the World Health Organization and international partners to exchange up-to-date information and coordinate preventive and operational actions.
It is important to note that Nipah is an acute viral disease that can cause serious complications, including inflammation of the brain.
Bats are the carriers of the virus, and infection can occur through contact with infected animals, consumption of products containing biological secretions, or close interaction with an infected person.
The duration of the illness varies from several days to two weeks. The main symptoms include high fever, headache, cough, difficulty breathing, weakness, seizures, and altered consciousness.
