Boto Kuronkeev, a resident of the village of Togolok in the Ak-Talinsky district of the Naryn region, is engaged in camel breeding, which is becoming an increasingly rare occupation in the country. According to information from the Ministry of Water Resources and Agriculture, this craft has been passed down in his family from generation to generation.

“My father started camel breeding in the 1980s, and now I continue his work. Although it is labor-intensive, camels are perfectly adapted to the conditions of our mountains. They can go without water for up to 40 days and easily endure both severe frosts down to -40 degrees and heat up to +50. These animals provide meat and milk year-round, making them very valuable for the farm,” the farmer noted.

Boto is actively developing this direction, spreading camels not only throughout the Naryn region but also to other regions of the country with the aim of increasing their numbers. Additionally, he plans to import new mountain breeds of camels from Mongolia.

According to available data, an adult male camel can yield up to 400-500 kilograms of meat. There is also demand for camel wool, from which various products are made, including clothing and blankets, as well as items with medicinal properties that are sold.

This initiative contributes to the revival of the nearly forgotten camel breeding and the diversification of the livestock sector in the country.
