Seitek Jumakadyrov, the director of the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, held a meeting with Kate Collins, the head of the consular section of the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek.

The meeting was initiated by the Kyrgyz side, with the aim of discussing consular cooperation and analyzing recent changes in U.S. visa policy.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue on visa issues, which will allow for the development of mutually acceptable solutions.

The American side highlighted specific aspects regarding the compliance of Kyrgyz citizens with visa requirements and expressed readiness for further discussions, according to information from the press service of the foreign ministry.

Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan expressed concern that the new visa requirements could negatively impact the travel of citizens of both countries, which, in turn, could reduce the number of business and tourist contacts and hinder the development of trade and economic cooperation.

It is important to note that starting from January 21, Kyrgyz citizens applying for non-immigrant visas of category B1 (business trips) and B2 (tourism) are required to submit a refundable deposit ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.
