Deputy Sulaymanov responded to accusations of populism over driver's licenses

The deputy links the criticism to the position of the executive branch in the Jogorku Kenesh

Kunduzbek Sulaymanov, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, responded to the criticism that arose on social media regarding his opinion on extending the training period for obtaining a driver's license to 10 months. He is accused of populism for this statement.

At a parliamentary meeting, he noted that such accusations are not accidental and, in his opinion, they are directly related to the actions of the executive branch, which plans to implement new rules.

Sulaymanov emphasized that he is not expressing his personal opinion but conveying the position of the citizens.

"When we speak, we do not speak for ourselves — we represent the interests of hundreds of voters. The state must take into account the opinions of the population and act accordingly," he stated.

He also reminded about his previous statement against extending the training period to 10 months and proposed an alternative option: to allow the theoretical exam to be taken after three months. If a person is not ready, they can continue their studies, and if they pass — they can obtain their license.

The deputy noted that the increase in the number of traffic accidents is a serious problem; however, tightening the requirements should not cause even greater dissatisfaction among citizens. According to him, there are people in every family who have been affected by accidents, making this issue relevant for everyone.

Additionally, Sulaymanov called for cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh and the cabinet of ministers, suggesting that this issue be discussed in a government hour format.

In conclusion, he added that his goal is not to "score points," but to raise important issues as a representative of society.
