At the permanent commission of the Bishkek City Council, which deals with municipal property and land issues, Deputy Kazybek Ergeshov raised the issue of rising land rental rates in the city's markets.
He noted that many entrepreneurs and traders express dissatisfaction with the increase in rental costs.
“We must support small and medium-sized businesses, not create additional barriers for them. Instead, we are increasing rates, taxes, and so on. Previously, when the 'Oberon' market was in private hands, its owners proposed to reduce the rent by 50 percent, and now we are raising it. Private entrepreneurs were making a profit, and the market continues to generate income,” he added.
Representatives of the municipal enterprise "City Road and Transport Infrastructure" reported that rental rates in municipal markets have increased by 20 percent.
“This increase occurred as a result of negotiations aimed at further developing the markets. For example, prices at the 'Dordoy' market increased by 40 percent, and at 'Alkan Bazars' by 20 percent,” noted one of the officials.
Kazybek Ergeshov also reported on the preparation of a letter from the relevant commission, which will be sent to the antimonopoly authorities and the Ministry of Economy for a review of the rates.
“This increase is unjustified. We cannot suffocate entrepreneurs with such measures. It is necessary to reconsider the rental amount,” he emphasized.
