Ishak Masaliev, a former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, voiced an initiative to review the most high-profile criminal cases that have been examined in recent years. He posted the relevant message on social media.

He noted that the leadership of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has undergone complete changes, and some employees have already been held accountable and are in custody.

Masaliev also cited the words of Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov, who pointed out the increasing violations of the law and the rise in public discontent.

In his opinion, discussions are currently underway regarding changes to the functions and status of the SCNS, which may limit its powers to exclusively specialized tasks. He believes this would be a positive step.

The question of which body will be responsible for combating corruption—whether it will be a new specialized agency or the prosecutor's office and police—should be decided by the president, emphasizes the former deputy.

Additionally, he proposed to conduct a re-examination of high-profile criminal cases from the past five years. Ishak Masaliev believes that the president could establish an interagency commission to thoroughly investigate these materials.

“The results may surprise, but this step is important for both the people and the president,” added Ishak Masaliev.
