The municipality presented the concept of a new cultural center
The Bishkek City Hall announced plans to create a cultural center on the site where the 'Chatyr-Kul' cinema once stood. This statement was made in response to the public outcry surrounding the decision to demolish the building.
We remind you that in November of last year, a fire occurred at 'Chatyr-Kul', after which the building was handed over to the city authorities, who took on the responsibility for its restoration.
In February 2026, images surfaced on social media capturing the demolition process of the cinema, which sparked a negative reaction from the people of Kyrgyzstan. This discontent was linked to the destruction of several cultural and historical sites in the capital in recent years.
