The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has approved the labor migration quota for 2026, which will amount to 52,000 people. This was reported by 24.kg, head of the department for working with foreign citizens of the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration of the KR, Arlen Aliyasov.

According to Aliyasov, the quota was initially set at 25,000 last year, then increased to 42,000, and subsequently reached 52,000. If necessary, this figure may be revised.

“We decided to exclude certain types of activities from the resolution starting in 2025, as this often requires amendments. The most in-demand sectors remain construction and light industry,” he noted.

Arlen Aliyasov also mentioned that among foreign workers wishing to work in Kyrgyzstan are citizens of China, India, Turkey, Pakistan, and other countries.

In addition, he reminded that starting from January 1, 2025, the process of obtaining permits for foreign citizens will change. Under the new pilot project, all documents will be submitted through a portal based on the "single window" principle. The functions of distributing the labor quota and issuing work permits will be transferred from the Ministry of Labor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the KR.

The pilot project will be in effect until July 1, 2026, and if successfully implemented, corresponding changes may be made to the legislation of Kyrgyzstan.
