The State Penitentiary Service commented on the lawsuit filed by Rita Karasartova in the Administrative Court of Bishkek regarding the conditions of detention in the pre-trial detention center.

On February 19, Karasartova stated on her social media page that inmates are unable to communicate by phone with their relatives, despite the fact that this right is enshrined in the legislation.

In response to this statement, the State Penitentiary Service noted that the information provided by Karasartova is inaccurate.

According to them, upon entering the pre-trial detention centers of the penal system of the Kyrgyz Republic, defendants receive full information about their rights, obligations, and internal regulations, which is confirmed by their signature.

Furthermore, excerpts from the Rules approved by the government decree dated August 30, 2006, No. 631, are posted on information boards in the premises where inmates are held.

The State Penitentiary Service also added that their activities are carried out in full compliance with current legislation, and they are ready to defend their position in court in response to Karasartova's lawsuit, emphasizing that the rights of defendants and convicts are under their protection.

In conclusion, the State Penitentiary Service urged citizens to trust only official sources of information.
