Dear 'joke': a false bomb threat can lead to imprisonment

The State National Security Committee reported on the irresponsible behavior of citizens

In the press center of the State National Security Committee, it was reminded that false reports of bomb threats can lead to criminal liability, including imprisonment.

Law enforcement agencies noted that increasingly, crowded places such as shopping centers and schools are becoming victims of wrongdoers. What is sometimes perceived as a joke or a desire to interrupt classes is actually regarded as a threat to public safety.

Every time such calls are received, special services are forced to conduct a full evacuation, which diverts resources and efforts from combating real crimes. "This disrupts the usual rhythm of life for hundreds of people and leads to significant financial losses for the budget," the agency emphasizes.

It is important to note that criminal liability under Article 259 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic arises immediately. For minors who commit such "jokes," the consequences can also be serious—besides being held accountable, their parents will also be held responsible.

Special services urge parents to pay attention to their children's behavior to avoid situations that could lead to destructive consequences and real prison sentences. It is also important not to engage in thoughtless actions themselves.
