“We heard your requests about the insufficient number of spring breaks,” the minister noted, adding that the academic year will end on May 29, instead of the usual date of May 25.
The decision to extend the break was made to meet the needs of the students.To fulfill the curriculum, these additional days will be compensated in May, which leads to the shift in the end of the academic year.
Previously, the Ministry of Education approved a new curriculum with a vacation schedule, according to which this year students were supposed to have only one day off — March 6 (Friday). This decision caused dissatisfaction among parents, as after a challenging third quarter, children had only a short three-day break.
In May, students will be on break from May 1 to May 11, and then the academic year will conclude two weeks later. The Ministry explained this distribution of workload by the new Labor Code, which provides for long weekends in January and May, causing outrage among parents.
