The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has given the green light to the start of the procedure necessary for signing an agreement related to the fight against illegal content online.

The document, which is connected to the agreed approaches to protecting rights to intellectual property objects, has been sent to the EAEU countries for the necessary domestic procedures before its signing. The draft agreement includes key elements for the protection of copyright.

This agreement introduces measures to protect rights to intellectual property objects on the internet. It provides for the possibility of judicial restrictions on access to illegal content, and also places an obligation on internet resource owners to act in accordance with court decisions to restrict access to such content. In addition, an electronic registry will be created to track resources that have restricted access.

As noted by the Minister for Economy and Financial Policy of the EEC, Bakyt Sultanov, all EAEU states have completed the internal procedures for coordinating the draft, which indicates the document's readiness for signing.
