More than 2.5 million people underwent free screening for viral hepatitis

In Kyrgyzstan, more than 2.5 million people have undergone free screening for viral hepatitis, as announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues by Deputy Minister of Health Bakytbek Kadyraliev.

According to the information provided, from the beginning of 2023 until February 2026, 2 million 506 thousand 791 people have undergone laboratory testing. During the screening, 40 thousand 942 cases of hepatitis B, 23 thousand 39 cases of hepatitis C, and 1 thousand 67 cases of hepatitis D were identified.

Bakytbek Kadyraliev also noted that individuals with negative test results are referred for free vaccination, while those with positive results receive treatment at family medicine centers.

Additionally, in collaboration with the Center for Electronic Health, a registry of patients suffering from viral hepatitis has been created.

According to the Ministry of Health, in 2025, preventive measures covered more than 1.5 million citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
