The Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that adherence to a classic style in clothing contributes to improved discipline and reduced social differences among students.

According to the resolution of the Government of Kyrgyzstan No. 572, adopted on August 12, 2015, the school uniform must meet classic standards, taking into account the climatic conditions and temperature regime in educational institutions.

The department explains: “The requirements were developed considering the opinions of parents, students, and experts. For boys, the uniform includes a shirt, vest, trousers, and a jacket in solid colors (black, gray, dark blue, burgundy). For girls, the uniform includes a blouse, vest, skirt, trousers, dress, apron, and jacket made from solid or checkered fabric. Light-colored shirts are allowed.”

It is important to note that pressure on socially vulnerable families regarding the purchase of a specific uniform is unjustified; an option of “light top, dark bottom” is provided.

He noted: “I receive numerous complaints, especially from remote regions, regarding the inconvenience of such uniforms for children. They are hot in summer and uncomfortable in winter. In urban traffic jams, moving in such clothing on public transport is difficult. We are essentially creating discomfort for students. In China, for example, children are allowed to wear sports suits, which proves to be practical. I am not insisting on the complete abolition of school uniforms to avoid a situation where children come in torn clothes, but I ask to reconsider the dress code and allow more comfortable clothing such as sweaters, t-shirts, and casual-style jeans,” the parliamentarian added.
