On February 26, 2026, Erlis Akunbekov, the new Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, held his first meeting with the ministry staff, officially beginning his duties. During the meeting, he got acquainted with the deputies and heads of various departments and divisions, emphasizing the importance of teamwork.

Akunbekov stated his intention to continue implementing the five main directions established by his predecessor Bakyt Torobaev and expressed high appreciation for the current professional team.

“We will work effectively with this team,” he noted, highlighting the importance of personnel stability.

At the meeting, First Deputy Minister Zhanibek Kerimaliev discussed current affairs, while Deputy Mirbek Duyshiev presented information on credit programs for agriculture. Currently, nine projects of state financial support are being implemented in the agro-industrial complex, totaling 13 billion 180 million soms.

Erlis Akunbekov urged his colleagues to work honestly and transparently, emphasizing the need for quick reporting of results. He also requested complete information on readiness for spring fieldwork and instructed the heads to ensure control over the supply of seeds, fuel, and equipment for farmers. Special attention was given to the completion of the water sector reform, which will be one of the new minister's main priorities.

It should be noted that Bakyt Torobaev, who held the position of head of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, previously resigned.
