The head of the State Penitentiary Service, Chyngyz Kozhoshev, visited correctional facility No. 27, where he released the akyn Askat Zhetigen from the punishment isolation cell. He also made a remark to the staff about the need to respect the rights of inmates to decent living conditions. This was reported by the akyn's lawyer, Nurbek Toktakunov, on his social media.
According to the lawyer, Askat Zhetigen himself informed him about his release and expressed gratitude to everyone who responded to his plea for help.
It is worth noting that earlier the akyn described the terrible conditions of detention in the colony, as well as the pressure and threats from the staff and the unjustified confinement in the SHIZO in his letter.
