The temporary closure of the running tracks at the Dolon Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek was announced by the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the agency, the first layer of specialized coating has already been laid on nine tracks. This layer must undergo a mandatory technological break, which lasts at least one year, in accordance with international standards.
Experts emphasize that the laying of the second, finishing layer of the coating is only possible under stable warm weather conditions. Violating the technological process or premature use of the tracks may damage the coating and lead to ineffective spending of budget funds.
It should be noted that the major repair and reconstruction of the stadium was completed in 2024, after which the facility was officially put into operation. Currently, work on the running tracks remains unfinished.
Once the entire technological process is completed and the second layer is laid, the coating will be ready for use, and the running tracks will be opened to all interested parties.
