There is still a serious problem of violence against women in the country.
A rally dedicated to women's rights was held in Bishkek, timed to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8, as reported by the event organizers.
Every year on this festive day, a march takes place in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. However, this year the authorities allowed the event to be held only in the M. Gorky Square, where about a hundred participants gathered, including activists and city residents concerned about women's rights issues.
Support for the event was expressed by Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva of the Jogorku Kenesh, but she faced criticism on social media.
It is worth noting that the issue of violence against women and children in Kyrgyzstan remains highly relevant, despite existing measures such as stricter penalties, the establishment of helplines, and the implementation of surveillance systems.
