This year, the traditional march dedicated to International Women's Day on March 8 will not be held in Bishkek for safety reasons. Instead, a peaceful action is planned to take place in Gorky Park from 12:00 to 13:00.
The organizers have received permission to hold the event from the city hall. This was reported in an interview with the publication 24.kg by Aigul Storozhuk, a representative of the organizing committee.
To ensure the safety of the participants, special recommendations have been prepared, which they encourage all those wishing to join the event to familiarize themselves with.
According to the organizing committee, throughout the event, the organizers, along with police officers, will monitor the content of the participants' posters to ensure compliance with the stated theme.
Registration for participation in the action will take place on-site.
The organizing committee emphasizes that the main goal of the event is to protect women's rights and draw public attention to important issues such as domestic violence and femicide.
