Today, March 16, at a meeting of the Education Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations Durus Isaev announced plans for the construction of new student dormitories in Bishkek.

Deputy Bolo Saginayev, speaking at the meeting, highlighted the difficulties faced by students: a lack of dormitories and high rental prices for housing. He raised the question of the possibility of transferring dormitories into private hands.

Isaev confirmed that the ministry conducted an inventory of existing university dormitories and identified a shortage both in Bishkek and in the southern regions of the country.

According to him, a special program has been developed to address this issue. Currently, data on available land plots near universities where new dormitories are planned to be built is being clarified. Work is underway on planning and discussions with the government.
