The victims expressed their opinion on the sentences for the terrorists.
In the criminal case related to the terrorist attack at "Crocus City Hall," the convicted received various sentences. The defense of the victims of the attack appealed to the authorities to restore the death penalty and apply it to the guilty parties.
The victims' lawyer, Lyudmila Aivar, noted in an interview with RBC: "In situations where ruthless terrorists take the lives of many people, such a horrific crime requires, in exceptional cases, the lifting of the moratorium on the death penalty. They will continue to live, receive packages, and meet with their loved ones. But the people they killed will never return."
The victims' defense insisted on a longer prison term for the perpetrators of the attack at "Crocus," proposing 25 years of imprisonment before transferring them to a penal colony. However, the court issued sentences ranging from 16 to 18 years. The victims' lawyers intend to appeal this verdict, as they consider it insufficiently strict.
It is worth noting that a moratorium on the death penalty has been in effect in Russia since 1997.
