The ceremony for the installation of a memorial plaque in honor of the renowned Hungarian scholar István Kongur Mandoki will take place on March 19 at 10:00 AM. This is reported by the press service of the Hungarian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the embassy, the memorial will be installed in the building of the National Innovative Technological School-Lyceum No. 5, named after Aydarkan Moldokulov, where Mandoki spent time during his scientific expedition in Kyrgyzstan.

“István Kongur Mandoki is an outstanding figure in the field of Turkology and Kipchak studies in Europe, and his contribution to strengthening ties between Hungary and Central Asia is hard to overestimate. He dedicated a significant part of his life to studying the history and culture, as well as the linguistic connections between the ancient Hungarians and Turkic peoples. In 2024, in honor of the 80th anniversary of his birth, the Hungarian Embassy plans to publish a book about Mandoki titled ‘Kоңурдун коңгуроосу,’” the statement notes.
