There are 31 female deputies in the parliament
At a recent meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Speaker Marlen Mamataliyev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan holds a leading position in the world in terms of the number of women in the legislative body.
He noted that this issue was discussed at one of the events organized with the support of the United Nations, where Kyrgyzstan received positive feedback for its achievements in this area.
As of today, there are 31 female deputies in the parliament, which is an unprecedented achievement for the country. The share of women in the presidium of the parliament also remains stable at around 30%.
"For the first time in history, about 30% of leadership positions in committees are held by women, and the quota among deputy chairpersons of committees is not only met but exceeded. Additionally, for the first time, women have headed international parliamentary friendship groups," he added.
