On March 19, ahead of the International Day of Happiness, the annual version of the World Happiness Report 2026 was published.
For the ninth consecutive year, Finland takes first place. Iceland and Denmark are in second and third places, respectively. Notably, Costa Rica has made history by being among the leaders, ranking fourth. Sweden rounds out the top five.
Experts note that successful countries have a high level of trust among their populations and a strong sense of unity, accessible healthcare and education, as well as a high level of trust in government institutions.
When compiling this list, various factors were taken into account, such as average ratings of citizens' quality of life, GDP, social support, life expectancy, and the level of corruption.
