Starting April 1, 2026, the power restrictions that were applied during peak load hours in Kyrgyzstan will be completely lifted. The Ministry of Energy announced this decision.
The lifting of restrictions is related to the end of the autumn-winter period of 2025–2026.
It should be noted that these temporary restrictions were introduced due to the low water level in the Toktogul Reservoir, which was necessary to maintain stable energy supply. During peak hours — from 06:00 to 09:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00 — the power was reduced as follows:
- for single-phase consumers from 5 to 3 kilowatts,
- for three-phase consumers from 8 to 5 kilowatts.
The ministry emphasized that these measures helped prevent a critical drop in water levels and ensured the reliable operation of the energy system.
According to the ministry's information, in 2025, the total electricity consumption amounted to 19 billion 94.8 million kilowatt-hours, which is an increase of 4.7 percent compared to the previous year. The main factors for this growth were active housing construction, the launch of new industrial enterprises, and an increase in the number of consumers.
As of January 1, 2026, the total number of consumers reached 1 million 621 thousand 292, an increase of 36 thousand 287 over the year.
Additionally, the ministry noted that preparations for the autumn-winter period were successful: equipment was modernized, reconstruction of major hydroelectric power stations was completed, and small hydropower plants and substations were built. During this period, there were no power outages observed.
