In the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan, the first concrete pouring works have begun on the site designated for the construction of a nuclear power plant. On March 24 of this year, specialists started creating the foundation for the small-capacity reactor RITM-200N, as reported by Podrobno.uz.

At this stage, the preparation of a concrete base with a volume of approximately 900 cubic meters is underway. The work includes the installation of necessary waterproofing and grounding for the reactor building. This stage is expected to be completed by April.

Once it reaches its design capacity, the new nuclear power plant will be able to generate about 15.4 billion kWh of electricity per year, which will meet more than 15% of the electricity needs of the entire republic. In addition, the signed roadmap includes social aspects such as training qualified personnel and developing infrastructure for the future city of nuclear workers. The construction in the Farish district will become the largest energy project in the history of independent Uzbekistan, with an expected lifespan of at least 60 years.
