The government of the United Kingdom has announced a significant increase in entry visa fees for various categories, including visas for tourists, students, and transit passengers. The new rates, published on the Foreign Office website, will take effect from April 8.

According to the new rules, the cost of a short-term tourist visa for up to six months will rise from £127 to £135.

The cost of long-term visas will also increase: a two-year entry permit will cost £506, a five-year visa will be £903, and a ten-year visa will amount to £1,128. The changes will also affect those planning to study or receive medical treatment in the UK.

Thus, the cost of a student visa will now be £558, while a visa for private medical treatment will cost £234. The changes will also impact transit visas: the fee for an airport transit visa will rise to £74.5.

For citizens of visa-free countries, the price for an electronic travel authorization (ETA) will increase from £16 to £20.
