The International Pole Acrobatic Championship took place in Bishkek

Last weekend, the fifth international championship of Kyrgyzstan in pole acrobatics was held at the Chingiz Aitmatov Russian Drama Theater.

Roman Barinov, Vice President of the Federation of Pole Acrobatics and Sports Dance on the Pole of the Kyrgyz Republic, noted that all championships in this sport are approved by the main governing body located in London.

“This is a worldwide organization, the rules of which we accept. Since 2009, the republican federation has actively developed pole acrobatics in Kyrgyzstan. Initially, there were no schools, no hobbies, and no understanding of the phenomenon itself, but now we hold two championships a year based on the recommendations of the agency for culture and sports and the National Olympic Committee. One championship is internal and closed, and the other is open - international, in which athletes from near and far abroad participate. For this championship, 110 applications were submitted, but unfortunately, not everyone was able to come. Participants from Ukraine, Belarus, and Moscow, unfortunately, did not arrive. A total of 79 athletes from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia showcased their skills.

Barinov also emphasized that the federation does not review the performances of athletes before the championship.

“So many programs became a surprise for us as well,” he said. “But all athletes remember that if they make any liberties or mistakes, it could lead to disqualification for up to five years. All participants are familiar with the championship rules.”

The competition takes place in the following categories: “Amateurs-1” (among those who have been practicing for less than 8 months), “Amateurs-2” (from 8 months to 1.5 years), as well as Pol-Art, “Acrobatics,” “Art – Men,” and duet performances.
